The kidney Cleanse

This is a well known naturopathic remedy used to detoxify the kidneys. It is very effective and extremely easy to prepare. All you need is 1 lemon and cayenne pepper. This is great if you are feeling rather sluggish, suffer from water retention and have poor circulation.  You will find it both stimulating and energising. This cleanse is best done in the mornings. Make sure you do not eat anything before drinking the kidney cleanse. You should do this cleanse 5 days in a row.

Health Benefits of Lemons

Lemons are my absolute favourite fruit and I always start my mornings with warm water and lemon to cleanse my internal organs. Lemons are rich in vitamin C, magnesium, bioflavanoids, pectin and Calcium. They are antiviral and antibacterial, they aid and stimulate digestion, they purify the blood, freshen the breath, are extremely beneficial in throat infections and are very good for the skin as they cleanse the liver.

Health Benefits of Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper is very good for circulatory problems. It speeds metabolism and helps regulate your digestive system. It helps to regulate blood pressure and is beneficial in preventing blood clotting.

How to Prepare The Kidney Cleanse

You will need:

1/2 or 1 lemon ( I personally use half a lemon as 1 is too strong for me) A pinch of cayenne pepper or 10 drops and  warm  or cold water.

Juice the lemon in the juicer making sure it is unwaxed and organic if possible. Once juiced add the warm or cold water and then add the cayenne pepper.

Protecting your teeth

Make sure you rinse your mouth with water after the cleanse and wait 30 minutes before brushing your teeth. This is to protect the teeth form citrus fruits.

Cayenne pepper can interfere with a number of medications so always consult your doctor before starting any detox especially if you are taking medication. If you suffer from acid reflux, stomach acid or are allergic to citrus fruits then do not use lemons. You can substitute the lemon with apple cider vinegar.
