I have very fond memories of nutella. As children my cousin and I would often devour big jars at a time. It was just so delicious! It has taken a while to experiment and make a chocolate spread that I liked. The first one I made did not come out that good but this one is not bad at all and it is perfect for when I am craving chocolate. I eat it with strawberries, porridge or straight out of the jar.
Ingredients
2 cups of hazelnuts
3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder
3 tablespoons of raw honey or maple syrup
3 tablespoons of hazelnut milk (how much you use depends on how thick you like your nutella)
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
To give the hazelnuts more flavour and in order to remove the skins roast them in the oven for about 10 minutes. Allow to cool and then rub them in your hands so that the skin comes off.
This next step depends on how powerful your blender or food processor is. To make the hazelnuts easier to blend you can soak them for 30 minutes in water. Drain the hazelnuts and place them in your food processor with the rest of the ingredients and blend until lovely and smooth. Taste it and see if you want to add more honey, cacao powder or nut milk. Store in a glass jar in the fridge and enjoy!
